Weekly Air freight service for China - Africa sector by DHL

DHL Global Forwarding has launched weekly air freight service to move cargo from China to Africa via Dubai route..

The weekly freighter service will have a capacity to carry 100 tonnes of cargo. The forwarder said that it will consolidate all cargo from across China in Guangzhou & move it via Dubai to various destinations in Africa & Middle East as Dubai plays key role as gateway between China & rest of Africa.

The forwarder said that this service is specially for organisations & governments who want to ship goods from China to Africa & Middle East.

Starting April 21, the service will operate for four weeks initially however DHL Global is actively seeking to secure all routes to Africa in longer term.


As per forwarder the bulk of the cargo will comprise of protective gears like masks, gloves, sanitisers & goggles .

Turkish Airlines is now operational for new destination :Quito

Quito, Ecuador's capital is a new addition destination by Turkish Cargo.

Turkish cargo expanded its network with addition of Quito city which is majorly known for exporting flowers, textiles, food including sugar , cacao, banana, palm oil & coffee.

Turkish cargo will start its operating flights twice a week from March 7, using Boeing 777F freighters routing Istanbul - New York - Curacao - Masstricht.

This addition will add muscles to Turkish Cargo who is already operating to 300 destinations worldwide & serving 89 cargo destinations directly.

DB SCHENKER Opens New Solar Powered Hub in Dubai

DB Schenker has opened a new logistics centre in South Dubai with an area of 33000qm which can offer space for 90000 euro pallets 

This warehouse has capacity to handle temperature controlled, value added services, hazardous , & distribution / delivery services for both ocean & air freight movements..

Moreover it has direct connection for Jebel Ali & Al Maktoum Airport & it will serve as big hub for major DB Schenker customers.

By 2021 DB Schenker is expected to have 80000 sqm of warehouse space available.

Delta Airlines to appoint LUG in Frankfurt for cargo handling

From 15 Jan, 2020 Delta Airlines will appoint LUG for ground handling services in Frankfurt,

LUG has been handling ground services for Delta airlines in Munich for last 5 years .

Delta airlines operating 3 flights a day daily from Frankfurt to Atlanta, Detroit & New York.

After UK Germany is the biggest export market in Europe .

USA is a big market for Germany especially for automotive export goods.

LUG has also bagged contract with Uzbekistan airlines for ground handling services of flights operating between Frankfurt & Tashkent thrice weekly.

MSC plan to cut CO2 Emission with Biofuels

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Co. has decided to start using biofuels in its vessel starting from Rotterdam,Netherlands.

With it successful trials with biofuel blends earlier this year MSC has now decided to use blended biofuel for its vessels .

MSC started with 10% blended biofuels thereby increasing it to 30% with successful trails thereby cutting CO2 emission by 15-20 % & improving air quality..

MSC is hopeful to increase use of blended biofuel in future thereby reducing CO2 norms by 80-90 %.

Hong Kong Airlines Under Pressure to Improve Financial Situation or Lose License

Hong kong Air Transport Licensing Authority(ATLA) has informed Hong Kong Airlines(HKA) to either improve there financial situation or loose license .

Early this week ATLA has informed HKA to inject cash to improve there financial situation which is deteriorating day by day else face action & loose there license to operate.

ATLA has provided deadline of 07-Dec to prove cash input else cash stripped HKA will have to lose its operating license.

However airlines has blamed recent unrest in Hong kong . They are also no able to distribute salary to there staff for November month thereby delaying payments by first week of December.

Due to mounting financial issue airlines has restricted its network thereby focusing on its core sector only.

Heathrow airport is now facilitated with automated trucking updates whenever a cargo is loaded or unloaded in shed .

Its ground handling agents Dnata & ASC can now directly update agents & hauliers to there system / online portal whenever they are delivering or collecting cargo .

General users & regular users can access these updates by small modifications in there AIS .

Opening of New Freight Hub near Hanover by DHL

On 13 Sept European transport giant DHL Freight opened new freight hub with an area of 8700 sq m at Airport Business Park in Langenhagen near Hanover Germany .

This facility will provide 86 loading bays managed by 290 employees support for its freight services Euroconnect & Eurrapid .

In order to increase its strength DHL has also introduced automated weight, volume & cargo data recordings system in its new hub in order to increase efficiency & speed .

In order to promote Group's environmental programme DHL promoted sustainable construction methods & use of renewable energies while constructing this site including photovoltaic system & LED lighting .

Jet Airways suspends all flights after funds shortage

Jet Airways grounded all flights till further notice after they were not able to generate confidence with banks & lenders for interim funding .

As per airlines spokesperson the emergency funds from lenders or bank is not forthcoming resulting into airlines disability to pay for fuel & other critical services to keep airlines operational.

Jet airlines had a fleet of 123 aircraft but none of them operational as of date .

Last month it had £900 million of debt  & chairman Mr. Naresh Goyal along with his wife Anita Goyal resigned from the board of directors .

Panalpina Acquired By DSV Under $4.6Bn Deal

Danish logistics giant DSV offered Swiss logistics giant Panalpina an unrefusable offer of
Swis franc195 / share in a deal worth approx $4.6 bn in order to become world leading freight forwarding company .

DSV & Panalpina both were in negotiation for last 2 months with deal starting at
Swiss Franc 170/ share in January which seems to be finally closing at Swiss Franc 195 / share .

After acquiring Panalpina DSV will become 4th largest freight forwarding company in terms of revenue .

After deal completion both logistics giants will be strengthened globally with air tonnage touching to 1.5 m tonnes & sea freight close to 3 m containers (TEUs) yearly.

DSV is also planning to change its name to "DSV Panalpina" in order to reflect its presence & long rich history worldwide .

Saudia Cargo carries equipment for Janadriyah festival

Janadriyah, the National festival for Heritage & culture is organized every year by Ministry of National Guard, Saudi Arabia .

Saudia airlines participated in event by transporting equipment of inaugural ceremony for this festival.

It carried 60 tons of equipment, cables, screen, etc from Vatry airport, France to King Khalid airport, Riyadh by B747-400F Aircraft on Dec.08 & the same was carried back to Vatry the same month.

Saudia cargo is continuously providing support in terms of logistics services & freighter capabilities for this National Festival for past few years .

Saudia Cargo Transports 58 Cars to Riyadh For Formula E Series Racing

Saudia Cargo for the first time transported 58 cars & various equipment for ABB FIA Formula E Championship sponsored by Saudi Airlines .

The cars , spares & equipment are flown in from various European destinations to Ad Diriyah located on outskirts of Riyadh also handling first time this ABB FIA Formula E Championship.

Formula E championship inspired by innovation uses only electric powered cars for racing & it gives same excitement of track racing.

The 58 cars transported through several aircrafts had a combined load of 220 tonnes.

The Formula E Championship started from Beijing in 2014 touring New York, Paris , Hongkong & now the fifith series race will be in Ad Diriyah.

Fedex Singapore to Sydney flight 4 times a week

To give a boost to cargo movements , Fedex has launched new flight connecting markets of Europe, Middle east , Asia & Australia.

As per Fedex the new flight is designed to meet increased demand for these sectors especially heavy weight shipments. This will benefit customers based in Australia & Singapore with increased reliability & capacity for general as well as healthcare & perishable cargo.

The dedicated flight will operate 4 times a week between Sydney, Australia & Singapore.

Also with this service Sydney customer will enjoy a 3 hrs cut off time improvement for Singapore & Malaysia 4 times a week.

China Post & Lufthansa Cargo inks Joint Freight Operation

China Post & Lufthansa cargo have come up with a strategic agreement of sharing Boeing 777 freighter cargo capacity on Shanghai - Frankfurt route.

Lufthansa airlines (LH) will provide block space to China Post on its freighter & passenger aircraft on regular basis. Currently LH is operating 18 wide body aircrafts &10 weekly 777F weekly out of China .

Both China Post & LH airlines is exploring to develop new international routes also to explore new markets .

Earlier China Post was planning to develop international routes but this agreement with LH airlines indicates alternate strategy.
